flint by baltaire

restaurant

flint by baltaire occupies a two-story building on camelback road in phoenix's biltmore corridor, a west coast sibling to the baltaire steakhouse in brentwood. the project took the existing structure back to its studs and expanded the ground floor, rebuilding the interior around a single idea: cooking as the center of the room.

the plan puts the wood-burning grill and pizza oven behind glass at the heart of the dining room, with a raised dining platform positioned for direct sightlines to the fire. a glass-enclosed, temperature-controlled wine room holds the collection in view rather than in a cellar. the material palette stays warm and simple: wide light wood plank flooring, white-washed brick, and steel, with fireplaces layered through the seating areas.

the patio works year round in the phoenix climate. a retractable roof and operable shutters let it close and condition in summer and winter, then open fully in the shoulder seasons, with folding glass walls carrying daylight deep into the main room. upstairs, an open-air rooftop lounge trades enclosure for panoramic views of the biltmore neighborhood and the mountains beyond.
