arboleda, spanish for grove of trees, is a mediterranean restaurant at scottsdale quarter from san francisco restaurateurs björn kock and steven and mitchell rosenthal, owners of the city's landmark town hall and alumni of wolfgang puck's postrio. the menu moves along the coasts of spain, italy, greece, and morocco, and the room is built to keep that food the center of attention.

the project reworks a former kona grill suite on the ground floor of the quarter's block k, a restaurant space tucked beneath a multi-level residential building. a deep gray barrel vault runs the length of the 240-seat dining room, with a fourteen-foot olive tree standing at its center, giving the restaurant its name and gathering the seating around it the way a courtyard gathers around a grove.
floor-to-ceiling windows open the dining room to the patio, so the coastal register of the menu carries into the desert evening rather than stopping at the storefront line.
